LUO VESSELS 絡脈 Clinical Applications & Bleeding Techniques

Blood stasis is considered to be at the root of some of the most stubborn and complex conditions we see in the clinic. The Luo Vessels give the acupuncturist direct access to the blood and thereby the ability to treat these challenging cases.  

 Blood is also the substance that carries shen and provides the matrix for our conscious emotional life. The Luo Vessels are a powerful means to treat the shen and the emotions.

 This class will focus on the applications Luo Vessels to commonly seen clinical conditions.  Part of the weekend will explore Luo Vessel theory as the framework for human psycho-social development and provide a diagnostic and treatment paradigm for resolving imbalances in each channel.  The class will also cover conditions of the cardiovascular and digestive system as well as strategies for clearing organ heat.

 The class will also present detailed demonstrations of bleeding techniques. Many practitioners are not comfortable with bleeding.  However, this skill is easy to learn and can be decisive in the treatment of difficult and chronic conditions.  The class will present clear, step-by-step processes for ‘pricking the vessels’ using various tools (lance, wet cupping, 3 edge needle).
